Special campaigns
Amnesty Netherlands has organized writing actions for many different campaigns, continuously re-defining its goals. With special actions, urgent cases received attention. A way to create an active letter writing spirit is the writing marathon, both in 1986 and 2013. Another successful action was the December Action in the 1970s, resulting in loads of greeting cards to support prisoners. The cards were easier to write than ordinary letters. But, with huge success came new concerns. A lot of attention for a prisoner could work counter-productive. This led to new  strategies by Amnesty.
