Postcards

Sending pre-printed postcards was an easy way of taking action for the Amnesty volunteers. Postcards were addressed to the prisoners and the authorities. These cards to prisoners were intended to support them and to let them know that people were thinking of them. The second kind, addressed to authorities to ask them for the release of the prisoners of conscience.

Here are a few examples of postcards that were sent to prisoners of conscience and to authorities where adopted prisoners were held captured. On the left the front covers of the cards and on the right the backs. All courtesy of Archive Amnesty International Netherlands, IISH, Amsterdam.
